There’s a lot of jargon in the bookbinding and print finishing business – so though we try to keep things as straight forward as possible as there can be confusion over some of the terms we use on a day-to-day basis. So here are some of our favourite confounders!s!

• 1. The foot isn’t where you put your shoe! It’s the bottom edge of the book.

• 2. French groove isn’t a trendy new dance. It’s actually the narrow channel (groove) we press into a cased book between the hollow and the back edge of the boards.

• 3. A leaf isn’t a page…it’s two pages. So 32 leaves = 64 pages!
